7 Foods That Can Destroy Your Body: How to Avoid Them

It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that foods that are tasty and convenient will be good for your body, but in reality, those quick and easy foods are going to have the biggest impact on your health, especially if you eat them regularly. And although it’s far from comprehensive, here are seven foods that can destroy your body and how to avoid them before they do more harm than good.

1) Trans fats

Trans fats can be found in fried foods like french fries, doughnuts, and other pastries. These fats have been shown to contribute to heart disease and obesity, so it is important that you avoid these foods at all costs.

2) Sugar

Sugar is the worst food for your body. It can lead to insulin resistance and diabetes, which can then lead to heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, arthritis, and more. The best way to avoid sugar is by reading labels. Anything with a high amount of sugar is something you should avoid.

3) White flour

White flour is a refined grain product. When you eat white flour, the outer layers of the grain are stripped away, as well as a significant amount of its nutrients and fiber. This leaves only the starchy center of the grain, which is transformed into sugar in your body. White flour may also be bleached with chlorine gas or benzoyl peroxide.
Avoid white flour by sticking to whole grains like brown rice, oats, and quinoa.

4) Processed meat

Processed meat is made from the scraps of animal carcasses, which are then mixed with a variety of spices, sauces and preservatives before being packaged in plastic. This type of food has been linked to an increased risk for heart disease, stroke, some cancers and diabetes.
Processs meat contains nitrites that can form cancer-causing compounds called nitrosamines. The International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies processed meat as carcinogenic or cancer-causing in humans.

5) Refined carbs

Refined carbs like white rice and white bread are the worst offenders. These foods are stripped of all their natural fiber and nutrients, leaving them with a high glycemic index, which makes it easy for your blood sugar levels to skyrocket. To avoid refined carbs at all costs, get in the habit of reading food labels. The ingredient list will tell you exactly what’s inside the product, including any added sugars or artificial sweeteners that might be lurking within.

6) Artificial sweeteners

Artificial sweeteners like sucralose, aspartame, and saccharin can wreak havoc on your body. One study found that subjects who drank the equivalent of two liters of diet soda a day had a 67% increased risk of developing metabolic syndrome. And one particular artificial sweetener, saccharin, has been found to cause bladder cancer in rats when given in high doses.

7) Vegetable oils

Vegetable oils can be found in a lot of foods that we commonly eat. These oils are not healthy for you because they are typically high in omega 6 fatty acids, which lead to inflammation and chronic disease. Vegetable oils also have low levels of omega 3 fatty acids, which play an important role in the human brain, heart, and joints. The best alternative is olive oil or coconut oil as they are good sources of essential fats.
